We have such great admiration for those who provide ongoing care for the elders in their family. But even these compassionate individuals need a break to tend to other matters in their lives or to get much needed rest.
Eligible families and caregivers can receive the support of our respite care services to assist an elder person and allow the caregiver some time away.
Who receives in home respite services?
Qualified caregiver:
- Must be pre-qualified using the National Family Caregiver Support Program Intake Form provided by the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs.
Services can consist of:
- Routine respite care
- Routine personal care
- Light housework
Priority will be given to caregivers caring for elderly clients with the highest score derived by the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs Comprehensive Assessment Form.

The service not only helps give the qualified caregiver a well-deserved break, it helps seniors stay in their own homes where they are most comfortable and out of nursing homes and hospitals. TCOA provided services to 77 unduplicated clients for a total of 18,522 units of service last year.
